Safety Guide
We have put together some simple tips that we think will be helpful for anyone who may decide to use this site. These tips are a collection of information that can be found on-line placed into one convenient location. What you do with these tips is of course up to you!

  1. Make sure you feel comfortable.
If you don't feel comfortable with the other party that you have selected don't go ahead. Use your own best judgement here - nobody is forcing you to do anything.

  2. Don't lift more than you should.
If the instructions state that you should have two people to lift the item - use two people. Look after your back. Do some research online as to how you should lift things.

  3. Supervision
Make sure that you have adequate time to supervise a trade-person that is inside your house. This doesn't mean that you need to hover over them at all times - but it does mean that you are available and know where they are at any given time.

  4. Let someone else know
Perhaps let a neighbor know that you're having someone over to assemble something. Or let your family know you are going to go and put a job together at a certain address and time.

  5. Read up on the best way to lift items
Do searches online about how to lift things. You only get one back - look after it! It doesn't matter if you're lifting 1Kg or 20Kg there is a correct way and a wrong way to lift.

  6. Get the right tools
Are you assembling a whole bedroom suite? You may want to consider an automatic screwdriver. Using a manual screwdriver works - but you will probably cut your work down by 50% if you use the right tools! Also make sure that you read all instructions so that you know HOW to use your tools.

  7. Make appointments you can meet
Nothing is more frustrating that people that break appointments! Make sure that if you make a commitment you show up on time. Sure - things happen from time to time that are beyond our control - but it's within our control to let the other party know what's happening!
